If you or a club you take part in are interested in joining us, please contact sbcc.ptk@gmail.com . We welcome all student organizations and hope that this will be a way for Phi Theta Kappa to form connections with our fellow clubs and campus organizations.
November 6
Backyard Bounty Program
9:00 am - 1:00 pm, TBA
The Phi Theta Kappa leaders will be doing our part to help the Santa Barbara community in a time of need. As one of several efforts to help feed the needy during the holiday season, SBCC Phi Theta Kappa leaders will be donating their time to the Food Bank's Backyard Bounty Program. We will be assisting in the harvesting of crops that will be donated to the Food Bank. If you are interested in helping us with this project, be sure to let us know. We would love all of the additional help we can get, but we do need to know about attendees so that we can RSVP to the Food Bank. Contact sbcc.ptk@gmail.com for details and to register. We hope to hear from you!
November 14
Beach Cleanup
TBA, Leadbetter Beach
The Phi Theta Kappa Leadership will be assembling to volunteer at a Beach Cleanup Event on November 14th in association with the SBCC Beach Angels club. If you are interested in joining us in helping to further beautify Santa Barbara, please send us an e-mail and we will add you to our roster for the event. Contact sbcc.ptk@gmail.com for details.
November 19
Operation: Inspiration
6:00-8:00 pm, A211
Operation: Inspiration is the culmination of Phi Theta Kappa's efforts to inspire Santa Barbara City College students through events, speakers, and films. It is a multi-media event aimed to encourage success, motivation, and inspiration within students. The evening will feature lecturers from SBCC, including Dean Alice Sharper, Professor David Elliot, and Professor Bonnie Chavez. Speakers will discuss topics like what traits they see as aiding students to succeed, how they've achieved success, and how to be inspired in all that you do. Along with the lecturers, there will also be film footage from various sources aimed to motivate, educate, and inspire. Segments of President Obama's 2010 Education Speech and 'The Last Lecture' will be shown, as well as clips from students and faculty on campus and a few other videos. Phi Theta Kappa will be providing refreshments.
